How a ride moves through El Amigo

  1. The rider asksBy text, the rider web page or the app. Text messages go to the company's own number.
  2. A price, then a YESThe address and time are confirmed, the company's fare policy gives the price, and nothing is booked until the rider confirms that exact summary.
  3. One driver at a timeEligible drivers are ranked by road time to the pickup, with a fairness rule among drivers who are about equally close. The first gets a short exclusive offer; if they decline or it times out, the next one does.
  4. Tracking with honest timestampsThe rider sees the car, plate and how old the last location is. Dispatch sees drivers whose location has gone stale.
  5. Payment recorded, not assumedThe driver records cash; Zelle is confirmed against the bank by staff; cards (if enabled) are confirmed by the processor. A finished ride is not marked paid until one of those happens.
